Continuation of this picture:
Today is the one year anniversary of the death of my brother's friend, Josh. He inspired the original image as well. He was killed a year ago today when a semi came around a curve at full speed and hit his motorcycle while Josh was waiting to make a turn, from what I've been told. My brother bought his motorcycle because of him, and today hits me hard because it very easily could have been my brother. Sheer luck makes it so I get to see my brother tonight, but Josh's siblings never will again.
Be aware of motorcycles on the roads. This is someones son, brother, friend, who is gone forever because someone was not paying attention.
I went to his facebook page today, his mother leaves him a note on there every day, asking god to give him a hug and a kiss for her.
Today is a day of remembrance of him, I'm not close to their family, so this is my contribution to it. I will not be showing anyone in real life this. I just hope somewhere he knows how many people miss him. All we can do is remember.

About the image itself:
The title of this comes from the topic of the image, not the inspiration. I'll try to be the least hokie as I can here. It's about Sarabi being grateful for having her son back. But more than that, it's about being grateful for what you have, remembering what you've lost, and looking forward to what you will gain in the future.
I don't like talking about topics like religion in public spaces, but I do believe that one day we will see those we care for again. I know a lot of people think that that's naive or silly, but the alternative is not something I would wish on anyone, so what's wrong with a little hope? I don't shove my beliefs down people's throats. But I couldn't bear to believe what they do, it's too bleak.

Man, that looks amazing ! The way you conveyed a story through your artwork, and I'm sure Josh is very proud, wherever he is. I want to cry reading this...amazing work !
